Tromsø Whale Watching By Hybrid Electric Ship
We set sail from Tromsø in the morning, sail about 3 hour heading toward a whale watcher’s paradise – the feeding grounds of Humpbacks, Sperm whales, and Orcas. You will spend approximately 60 to 90 minutes in their feeding areas 🙂
Arriving during the brief but magical polar daylight of the Tromsø winter, you’ll have the perfect opportunity to witness these wild creatures in their natural habitat.
Simply enjoy the stunning views of the Arctic frozen landscapes from our hybrid-electric ship. Our captain will be on the lookout for whales, while our experienced guides employ advanced techniques to locate them, ensuring the best chance of a sighting.
During the search, our passionate team will share fascinating stories from the Tromsø region and point out interesting sights. You’ll also gain insight into the whales’ behavior and habits, making the experience as educational as it is inspiring.
Once whales are spotted, we switch to our silent electric engine, minimizing noise and vibrations to reduce disturbance to marine life. This Eco-friendly approach ensures a respectful encounter with these incredible creatures, aligning with researchers’ findings about the importance of minimizing disturbances to whales.
Please note: The whale watching season generally runs from October 20 to January 31 but may vary each year. Our team will do their best to look for the whales but we can’t guarantee whale sightings, because they are wild animals.

- Please arrive at least 15 minutes before the start of the tour
- Meeting point is at the pier to the side of Skarven Kro Restaurant in Tromsø (Kaigata 6)
- The tour duration varies depending on the whales’ location and it lasts 8 – 9 hours
- Our team will do their best to look for the whales but we can’t guarantee, because they are wild animals
- Food and drinks are available for purchase onboard
- The tour that departs at 9 am and comes back at 4 pm offers the same amount of time with the whales but uses a faster boat, resulting in a shorter overall duration
- Please note that this trip may encounter wavy conditions, and seasickness could occur
