Make sure to wear your hat, gloves, pants, and jacket as it’ll be dark and cold along the way. Hop on a 4×4 Jeep and navigate the dirt road that will lead you directly to an ideal viewpoint on the mountain. At the top, you’ll have enough time to relax as you wait for the sunrise. What an amazing experience. The coordination between the hotel, base camp, and viewpoint was smooth.
At the base camp, I saw staff offering warm clothes to those in need. We travelled with warm pieces, hats and mitts for the kids, but they only needed it for 30minutes. Looking back, i think borrowing a large blanket from our hotel would have been sufficient to keep us warm. I would recommend bringing food/a packed box from the hotel. There was tea and cookies but nothing much more at the starting point. Also, we almost missed the sunrise. We were waiting for the guide to say “ok, lets go” but they were waiting for us to say it. Something to keep in mind for next time. But still got to enjoy the views from the top.
Exploring the black volcano rocks was a great experience. It was a quick stop, but something unique for us to see.
We were a bit unprepared for the hot springs. It was an open locker room for everyone, with changing stalls and lockers. With no flipflops for the kids and murky floors, it was a bit hard for us to navigate with the kids. One option we forgot to consider was changing in the car/van. We opted out of the hot springs but stayed to enjoy the beautiful lake views with the stunning mountains and mist.

Los dos nos hicieron muy ameno el día, nos explicaron muchísimas cosas interesantes y nos hicieron unas fotos preciosas. Sin duda lo recomiendo y ojalá tengáis tan buena experiencia con los conductores como nosotros.
