Mývatn, Dettifoss, Selfoss, Cave, Nature Baths & Godafoss Tour From Akureyri
Exploring Lake Mývatn and its surroundings is a must when visiting northern Iceland! The full day trip begins with a scenic drive along the Eyjafjörður coastline. Our first stop is the famous Godafoss waterfall, from there, we head toward Lake Mývatn, formed by a massive basaltic lava eruption over 2,300 years ago. The area is a volcanic wonderland, showcasing unique features such as lava pillars and rootless vents.
We visit the Skútustaðagígar pseudo-craters, followed by the extraordinary lava formations of Dimmuborgir, one of the top attractions in Lake Mývatn area. Next, we explore the Grjótagjá Rift, an old natural bathing spot with steaming geothermal water nestled within a fissure. Continuing our journey, we stop at the Europe’s most powerful waterfall – Dettifoss Waterfall. And Selfoss waterfall. We also visit the hot spring area of Hverarönd in Námaskarð, a surreal geothermal landscape.
Our day trip includes a relaxing stop at the Mývatn Nature Baths, where you can soak in soothing geothermal waters while surrounded by breathtaking views. As we head back to Akureyri, we make a final stop along Eyjafjörður, offering stunning vistas of the fjord and the town of Akureyri. To ensure a personalized experience, we keep our group sizes small, allowing for a more intimate and memorable adventure.
